Which Parkrun for our League?

Postby Paul » Tue Sep 18, 2012 1:34 pm

We agreed to include a Parkrun in the Ilkley Harriers Race League as a 'road' counter, so here's your chance to help us decide which one.
The League page on the web site is up to date now with all League-counting fixtures except this one, and there's a recent update from Neil on the Fixtures page of all forthcoming events (the PDF fixtures list, link below the Google calendar list, is more up to date than the Google calendar at this very moment (but will catch up soon)).
I hear that the Harrogate Park Run has a lot of grass (but correct me if I'm wrong), so may not be suitable to count as 'road' in our League? So maybe Bradford or Hyde Park would be better venues? Or Roundhay? And a preferred date.
NB with all Parkruns I believe you need to register before the event on their web site to get a barcode/number.

PS remember this Sunday's Harewood 10k is a League counter too.
CORRECTION - the October Harewood 10 is the League race, not this weekend's race. sorry.

My vote would be for Hyde Park not because it s flatter but the team there is great, Sam Dooley from the Hyde park harriers is the event director he could help us with dates/organisation if a large number of us turn up

Second option would be Lister Park in Bradford, nice park and a nice hill x 3 to add to the challenge.

If I remember right Wendy telling me the Harrogate Harriers secretary the parkrun in Harrogate has a lot of grassy sections

My vote would be for Bradford Lister Park. The Hyde Park course in Leeds is on very narrow paths & gets quite congested when there are lots of runners. The Bradford course has bigger hills, but is on a much better surface, more like a road race.

I thought that the Harewood 10 was the league race (28 October), not the Harewood 10k has it just changed?

Thanks Henry, there was an error introduced today and the Harewood counter is indeed the October race, not this weekend's 10k.
Any more votes on which Parkrun and what weekend?

Regarding dates, how about 6th or 13th October, or 8th December?

Can anyone suggest some more dates for Bradford Lister Park as a ParkRun League race?
We can't schedule it the day before Ian Hodgson MR, or the same day as a WYXC or the FRA Relays weekend.
Suggestions? (See Fixtures PDF on the Racing/Fixtures page.)

22nd sounds good...and it could be Christmassy fun. Even better if the park is covered in snow. I ran it in snow in my walshes early days and if I remember right I did a PB too!
