October Fell Relays

Postby alisonweston » Thu Aug 02, 2012 11:44 pm

Dave, Clare and I have selected teams for the October fell relays now from those who put their names forward, taking into account fell race results this year and also navigational experience for some of the legs.

Men's Ian Hodgson Relay October 7th

Leg 1: Martin Archer & tbc
Leg 2: Jack Wood & Lee Morley
Leg 3: Mark Mon-Williams & Iain Gibbons
Leg 4: Tom Adams & Dave Wilby

Ladies Ian Hodgson Relay

Leg 1: Jann Smith and Kate Archer
Leg 2: Emma Barclay and Sally Morley
Leg 3: Di Haggar and Alison Weston
Leg 4: Andrea Priestley and Tracey Greenway

Reserves 1. Alison Eagle 2. Nicky Jacquiery 3. Caz Farrow 4. Kelly Harrison

FRA - Mens Open and Vet teams to be confirmed by Dave soon

FRA - Ladies 1st team October 14th

Leg 1: Emma Barclay or Di Haggar (tbc)
Leg 2: Andrea Priestley and Tracey Greenway
Leg 3: Alison Weston and Emma Barclay or Di Haggar (tbc) (Navigation leg)
Leg 4: Sally Morley

FRA - Ladies 2nd team

Leg 1: Alison Eagle
Leg 2: Caz Farrow and Kate Archer
Leg 3: Kelly Harrison and Val Kerr (Navigation leg)
Leg 4: Jann Smith

Reserve: Clare Smith and Outi (tbc)

Please let us know if there are any problems with the teams detailed above.
We hope all runners in the Ian Hodgson relay will be able to recci their leg as they can all be very difficult in bad weather (as we found out last year!)
It is a bit unrealistic to go to Shropshire to recci but it may be possible to go over some of the legs on the Saturday if people are happy to stay the whole weekend. More details on possible accommodation will follow.

The inevitable injuries have resulted in changes to the teams thus the
final list of ladies team members for the forthcoming fell relays is as follows:

_Ian Hodgson_ (7.10.12)

Leg 1 Caz Farrow and Sally Morley
Leg 2 Kate Archer and Jann Smith
Leg 3 Alison Weston and Nicky Jaquiery
Leg 4 Andrea Priestley and Tracey Greenway

_FRA Team 1_ (14.10.12)

Leg 1 Jann Smith
Leg 2 Andrea Priestley and Sally Morley
Leg 3 Alison Weston and Rebecca Mon-Williams
Leg 4 Kate Archer

_FRA Team 2_ (14.10.12)

Leg 1 Alison Eagle
Leg 2 Outi Kamarainen and Natalie Curtis
Leg 3 Clare Smith and Val Kerr
Leg 4 Kelly Harrison

And reserve Alison Bennett.

For the Ian Hodgson relays, each runner MUST carry full kit and map, and wear club vests.
Same goes for the FRA relays, though maps will be provided at the start. Maps for legs 1,2 and 4 are available at http://merciarelays.org.uk/raceinfo.html.
If anyone is lacking the necessary kit, we will be able to supply some for the event.

If you have any problems with transport or accommodation let Alison Weston or Clare Smith know. We plan to be in Patterdale in good time for the start of the IH relays. We are travelling to Church Stretton on the day before the FRA relays.
Unless you have any objections to sharing your mobile number with team members, please let one of us know a contact number for you on race day.

Natalie

We really need you there before the start (10 am) at the FRA relays as the first leg is pretty short. You also need to allow time to park at the event centre and walk 15 minutes to the start field.

After Ian Hodgson tomorrow I will get in touch with everyone regarding transport etc. I wil be camping in Church Stretton the night before as wil Rebecca and Alison Eagle. Clare and Val wil be staying about 19 miles away with a friend of Clare's but they are planning to have a quick look at the start et.c on the Saturday afternoon.

Thank you

Alison

If any Harriers (men or ladies) are still interested in making up an open team for the FRA relays next weekend then please let me know via the forum, phone or Facebook as there are still a few places available.

Clare Smith.

Good luck to all runners in the FRA relays on Sunday. Don't forget your full kit and club vest. Please see http://www.merciarelays.org.uk/raceinfo.html for details. Arrive in good time for your leg: look for the Ilkley Harriers tent.
Most of all, enjoy the event!

Clare, Alison and Dave.
