Hi Harriers,

There have been lots of very impressive Harriers race results this April!

It’s time to put forward your nomination(s) for the Harrier of the Month for April, both for running and volunteering. Have a look and put forward the name(s) of those who have impressed you with their running and/or with their contribution to the club. You can nominate either here on Facebook or by email to homnom@ilkleyharriers.org.uk. Please let us know your nominations prior to the next committee meeting on Tuesday 15th May.

There have been some great trail run results this month; Jack Cummings coming 1st in the Guiseley Gallop on Easter Sunday and Hilda Coulsley taking the 1st F65 place in this race. Jane Bryant completed the Hawkshead 10km Lakeland Trail race, coming 1st LV50. 6 Harriers also took part in the Fountains 10km race, a league counter, with Hilda Coulsley taking 2nd FV60 place and Tracy Watson taking 3rd FV50 place.

Up on the fells, Ilkley Harriers have continued to impress! Bunny run season continued this month with Jack Wood winning race 2 and race 3 and Malcolm Pickering taking 1st V60 place in both these races. Robert Little came 2nd in Bunny Run 2 and Jack Cummings came 2nd in Bunny Run 3. Alison Weston completed the 9-mile Coledale Horseshoe fell race and took the 3rd LV50 place. Alison also completed the Mourne Highland, the first British Fell Championship race this year, taking the 2nd LV50 place with Jack Wood coming 3rd overall. Closer to home, Jack Cummings won the Dick Hudson fell race with Ilkley men taking the 1st men’s team prize (Jack Cummings along with Steven Gott and Nathan Edmondson). The month ended on an even higher note with Ben Shepherd completing the 60 (ish!) mile Fellsman race in 13.5hours, finishing in an impressive 12th place. On the same day 17 Harriers completed the 3 Peaks fell race with Jack Wood finishing in an impressive sub 3 hours and coming 4th overall. Dan Wilkinson, Iain Gibbons, Steve Turland and Michael Lomas, also impressive with their sub 4-hour finishes. Lovely also to see Mike Baldwin and his daughter Claire complete the race together.

Back on the road, 2 Ilkley Harriers completed the Manchester Marathon, with Matt Cox achieving a sub 3hour finish, in a time of 2:52:55. Blackpool Marathon was also on this month, with Colin Williams achieving a marathon PB, in a time of 3:21:55. 9 Harriers completed the London marathon in very impressive times, considering the sweltering conditions. 4 Harriers completed the rescheduled Thirsk 10, a Harriers race league counter, with Hilda continuing her great month and taking 1st F65 place. Kate Archer took 2nd F35 place in the Vale of York 10. The rescheduled Bradford 10km was also on this month with Pete Shields taking 1st V70 place, finishing in a fantastic time of 49:30.

Some great park run results this month also. Jack Wood won the York parkrun, with Matt Newell coming 2nd and Ruaridh Mon-Williams coming in 4th place at this event. Steven Gott also came 2nd in the Bramley parkrun on 2 occasions this month and Alex Hirst came in 4th place at the Cardiff parkrun. The 3rd race in the Leeds Evensplits series took place at the Brownlee Centre in Leeds, with David Westhead taking 1st MV50 place, Mark Iley taking 2nd MV55 place and Hilda Coulsley taking 1st FV65 place.

Also, this month, Val Kerr completed the Skipton Triathlon, her 1st attempt at a triathlon and completed this in a time of 1:40:30.

This list is by no means exhaustive and I am sure you have been impressed by others who do not appear in this summary.
We look forward to receiving your nominations!
Many thanks.
