Harrier of the month time folks! Can you spare a few minutes to scan the website and pick out your nominees. There’s LOTS to choose from - some amazing performances in trying summer conditions! As usual this is just a few suggestions and I usually miss something so please feel free to add other names and results to the Facebook page or Forum, or just email Paul.

Borrowdale fell race was an English Champs race this year and saw Jack Wood taking 17th position out of 400 runners with three other harriers performing well over the tough course.

Round Hill saw a good showing of Harriers with Martin Archer and Michael Lomas both taking top twenty places.

Michael also put in a great effort at the Kings Challenge race coming in the top ten, with Jann Smith taking First Lady.

Jack was busy again at the Littondale road and fell races - he did BOTH coming 3rd in the fell and 6th in the road race.

Well done to Bernie Gibbons who was first V60 in the tough Hardmoor Wainstones trail race.

Pendle Three Peaks (another English champs race) produced another great result for Jack who was 13th overall.

The popular Burnsall Classic produced some great results, another top twenty place for Michael Lomas, closely followed by Richard Joel and a great result for Val Kerr who took first LV50. Ten harriers took part in the road race (some of whom also did the fell!) Michael Lomas being first harrier home and another first LV60 for Bernie Gibbons.

A first Ultra for Alison Bloor who took part in the 42 mile Run to the Castle in what sounds like testing weather conditions!

Continuing with the Ultras theme two of our Harriers travelled to Chamonix to take part in the gruelling CCC race, sometimes referred to as the little sister of the UTMB, Jane McCarthy and Dick Waddington dug deep and completed the race in 20.5 hours in what can only be described as sweltering heat. I was there to witness the effort it took to handle 30 degree temperatures whilst tackling 19,000 feet of ascent and 100 kilometres of dusty trail.

I think there have been more races over the bank holiday weekend so please check the website for other results yet to be uploaded . . .
