Hello Harriers,

It's almost the end of the month again and the committee meets next Tuesday, so time for your nominations for runner and volunteer of the month of February please. Please email homnom@ilkleyharriers.org.uk or comment on here or on Facebook.
To hopefully make choosing a bit easier we are giving you some of the highlights of the month so far, expertly compiled here by Helen Waddington.

It's been another busy month with some outstanding results. This is just a brief summary of performances which we’ve put together to prompt your ideas for nominations but it is NOT a short-list and please feel free to nominate anyone - and not necessarily just the winners but those who are showing great commitment to training and improving their own times and performances.

Outi Kamarainen ran the Marmot Dark Mountains mountain marathon and finished an impressive 2nd place overall and 1st in the mixed team. (This took place the last weekend in January but didn't appear on the website in quite enough time to be spotted for HOM)

Tom Adams has had a great month setting a new course record at Cleethorpes Park Run (15.07!) and a definitive win at the Fell Race (despite having to stop to tie his shoelaces).

Other great Fell Race performances were from our juniors - Ruaridh Mon-Williams, Jack Cummings, Dan Hayes, Jemina Elgood and Lucy Haines who all finished in the top 100. Great senior performances came from Jack Wood, Ben Sheppard, Michael Lomas and Richard Joel - all top 100 finishers - and Senior Women including Kate Archer, Helene Whitaker and Lucy Williamson all coming home inside the 60 minute mark.

Conditions for The Rombalds Stride race were testing this year but this didn’t seem to hold back three of our senior men - Jack Wood, Mark Mon-Williams and Ben Sheppard all finishing in the top 10. Another great run came from Kate Archer who took 3rd lady.

At Dewsbury 10k Matt Newell achieved an outstanding time and personal best of 34.54 and 28th place overall.

Euan Brennan, another of our juniors, ran a great time at the Fountains Abbey Park Run (17.45) and came 4th in a field of 347.

Harriers have continued to show great strength at the PECOs - Jack Wood taking 2nd place at Roundhay Park and Lucy Williamson taking 15th place.

As for volunteers the obvious candidates must be Steve Weston and Jane McCarthy for organising the Fell Races - a record number taking part in the Junior es .

Please keep your eyes out for any more results this weekend - committee meets Tuesday.

If we’ve missed someone - NOMINATE THEM!!!

I nominate Val Kerr and Sarah Hayes for the amazing sweepers job on the Fell race - running yes but also collecting and carrying the poles in the blustery wind!

All the marshals did a wonderful job too, stood out there in the cold. At least we could keep moving, albeit very slowly and often backwards!!
