Navigation Skills Sessions

Postby David_C » Sun Sep 13, 2015 10:55 pm

Following on from my previous post a while back I've been in contact with an instructor (Joe Faulkner) who is able to do a number of evening or weekend sessions with groups of 4-6 people and can offer the below sessions. Joe assures me the shorter nights aren't an issue and his courses are run year round.

Tuesday 6th & Wednesday 7th of October
7pm to 9pm
Roughly £20 a head depending on final numbers
Introduction / refresher on map reading and navigation

Saturday or Sunday in early November
1 full day
Roughly £60 a head depending on final numbers
Beginner to intermediate session on map reading and navigation

Please let me know asap if you are interested in either of the above sessions and I can firm details up with Joe and get a booking made. Any questions just let me know!

Hi Sharon, Hilda, Val. Thanks for the confirmations, could any of you manage the Tuesday night at all? We have 10 people now so just need to arrange 5 on each night and we're good to go.

thanks, David

Sorry I can't do Tuesday, it's the committee meeting which would apply to Val too.

Final details are as follows:

18:30 to 20:30 (please arrive early for a prompt start)
Meet on the road by the Darwin Gardens (link below) for a briefing and initial work in the grass area by the road before venturing out on the paths around white wells.

There is little shelter so please bring warm waterproof clothing if the forecast looks poor.
Please bring a torch (headtorches are ideal) although Joe does have a few spares if you forget.
£20 cash on the night please, payable to Joe (the instructor)
Any problems, please let me know on 07950 485 419

Finally, Jane would like to move to the Wednesday group so if anyone can swap please let me/her know. If not we'll still make the numbers work.

thanks!

Hi David,

Is it too late to get on to tonight's course? Is there any kit required, ie compass?

Thanks
Michael
