The basics of nutrition for healthy exercise Tuesday June 27

Postby hildacoulsey » Mon May 08, 2017 4:28 pm

As part of the Beginners and Improvers programmes this year Jean Sullivan with Rachel Carter have volunteered to input some key principles of good nutrition to support those relatively new to exercise and running or those of us wanting to develop and improve. Add the date to your diary.
They aim to make this a discussion session by answering questions on these basics and nearer the time will ask for questions you'd like to input.
As you know both Jean and Rachel are good runners, friendly and social, as well as being experienced registered dietitians.
Look out in the autumn for a more advanced session to support experienced and strong runners.

It is June and hopefully this is in your diary so this is a reminder. We want this to be as interactive, informative and helpful as we can so please now is the time to confirm your attendance and provide some topics you want Jean and Rachel to cover or questions they can answer as prompts for discussion. Reply here or directly to me, secretary@ilkleyharriers.org.uk, or Jean or Rachel directly. Looking forward to seeing you at the tennis club at 8.30pm on 27th.

Just a reminder that Rachel and I will be presenting on the Basics of Nutrition for Healthy Exercise this coming Tuesday, 27th June at 8.30pm at the Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club. We are hoping to see as many of you there as possible!

In the session we will be aiming to:
- Provide an overview of what constitutes a healthy, balanced diet
- Dispel any myths and fallacies that abound around food
- Outline the nutritional considerations of those new to running
- Provide you with the opportunity to have your weight and height measured and your BMI calculated
- Provide you with the opportunity to have your questions answered

If this isn’t tempting enough, refreshments will also be provided!

It would be very helpful if you could confirm your attendance beforehand. Ideally, if you have any specific queries could you let us know in advance (by posting on the Harriers forum, on the Harriers Facebook page or by email to jean@jeansullivan-dietitian.co.uk).

Looking forward to seeing you!

Jean & Rachel
