Club training sessions - registration etc

We are renewing our Clubmark with England Athletics. This is crucial to enable us to run a successful Juniors section and to raise grant funding for their proposed facilities. For seniors it provides comfort that we have systems and procedures in place to safeguard members and our volunteer coaches in the activities we provide.  (To view more details: http://www.englandathletics.org/page.aspx?sitesectionid=1483&sectionTitle=Benefits).

We have reviewed our practices and whereas our policies are fine, as might be expected as they are predominately lifted from the EA site, there are a few things that we need to tighten up in the way we operate.

One is to do with our duty of care for seniors (over 18) so that we know who you are when you attend our sessions and are able to handle any emergency or incident and the other is the training sessions under 18s can attend and the procedures in place for their care.

1. For seniors attending Neil's, Pete's and Jane's Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs sessions they will have a register.  If you are new, make sure they know who you are. They will have access to emergency contacts via the membership list.

2. The Tuesday session is more social and more varied regarding who turns up and who leads. We ask that you sign you name in a book when you arrive at 7pm and provide an emergency contact number.  The book will be kept at the Tennis club.

3. We recommend that you invest in an id wristband or the like with your name, medical conditions if relevant and emergency contact number and wear it at our sessions (although obviously it can be worn for any sporting activity). Some useful examples are in the links below.

4.  We have clarified arrangements for under 18s attending our senior sessions; parental consent forms must be completed, registers will be kept and U18s may attend Neil’s, Pete’s and Jane’s sessions. They may also attend on Tuesday evenings with a parent in attendance. For more details see the club training page of the website.

These measures become effective from Monday 6th June 2016.

We need feedback on how these work. Contact Hilda via secretary@ilkleyharriers.org.uk with suggestions for improvement.
